Advanced Dentistry

In addition to general dentistry, dentists at Ivory Dental have completed specialized training in advanced dental techniques and provide advanced services such as dental implants to replace missing teeth and laser dental procedures for enhanced accuracy, faster healing and less discomfort.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are artificial metal tooth roots that are inserted into the jawbone to replace missing natural teeth. Implants and their attached crowns closely mimic the look and function of real teeth. They are a good alternative to dentures and bridges.

Dental implant techniques can replace one or several missing teeth. In some patients, an entire set of artificial teeth can be carried on dental implants. The artificial tooth (crown) is attached to the implant, and in some cases, an implant can be fitted with special clips or attachments to hold a denture firmly in place. Dental implants have a lot of benefits:

  • prevent bone loss in the jaw (and reduce the risk of adjacent teeth becoming loose)
  • prevent the hollowed or collapsed cheeks that can occur after tooth extraction
  • may prevent gum recession
  • unlike bridges, do not require the cutting and reshaping of adjacent healthy teeth
  • help to withstand greater bite pressures than dentures
  • are usually more comfortable than dentures
  • like natural teeth, are cleaned by dental floss and brushing with regular toothpaste, and do not require separate care as with dentures or bridges

Properly maintained implants can last for a lifetime, although repairs may be needed, like with other dental appliances.

Ivory Dental dentists have performed many dental implants over the years. Contact us to schedule a consultation to see if a dental implant is right for you.

Laser Dentistry

Lasers are very concentrated light beams which are used by highly-trained dentists to perform certain soft tissue (gums) and hard tissue (teeth) procedures. Ivory Dental has the laser equipment to accommodate both types of procedures.

Patients and dentists choose laser dentistry because of these distinct benefits that make the procedures go more smoothly:

  • Increased accuracy and reduced discomfort
  • Patients are less likely to require sutures
  • Anesthesia may not be necessary
  • The laser will sterilize the gums, making infection less likely
  • Less damage to gums shortens the healing time
  • Patients experience less bleeding than traditional surgery
  • There is no sensation of vibrations as from the dental drill
